Teaching a puppy not to spoil things in the house
The puppy has a very developed need to nibble something, so it must be provided with various, but safe for his health toys. Remember that a swallowed rag or, for example, pieces of a cracked rubber ball may cause a blockage in the intestines. It is advisable to change the puppy’s toys more often so that they do not have time to get bored. If the puppy is trying to gnaw objects forbidden for him, then from this he must be immediately weaned. A puppy biting the leg of a chair should be hurt and sent to its place. If he chews on a slipper, then he needs to be hit with the same slipper – the puppy should have a notion that if the slipper is “disturbed”, then he will begin to “fight”. You only need to do this if you find him at the “crime scene.” Do not tempt the puppy – when leaving home, remove all shoes and objects that you would not want to be torn to pieces. You can also take advantage of special Anti-Gryzin preparations sold in pet stores: items treated with this aerosol lose all attractiveness (but not always) for the puppy.
Sometimes a puppy tends to peel a wallpaper or tear off a baseboard and chew on a wall. The reason for this is the need of the growing organism for calcium, but if measures are not taken in time, then this can turn into a bad habit. It is enough to give the puppy a piece of ordinary student chalk and he will stop biting the walls. It should be noted that for this, oddly enough, only natural chalk is suitable, the use of proprietary special fertilizers in this regard is for some reason ineffective.
If a poorly trained teenage puppy or an adult dog, being alone, destroys everything in the apartment, like a Terminator, even bites through doors, then more radical measures are needed. For example, this method is suitable: deciding to go with someone from home, you close the dog in the room and continue to pack. Then you open the street door, but at the last moment you remain in the hallway, hiding with a whip in your hand, and your partner creates the appearance for the dog that everyone has left: he locks the door from the outside, goes down in the elevator and goes outside. The dog most often begins to rout after 5-10 minutes. Just at that moment, the owner suddenly enters the room and painfully punishes her, strictly driving him into place. If the dog doesn’t start destructive actions, then you shouldn’t go in and start telling how good she is, on the contrary, in spite of everything, you should behave strictly so that the dog feels itself under constant strict control and does not even think about something either spoil. Usually 3-5 repetitions are enough for the dog to learn what is required forever. You can also use this method for dogs that bark or howl alone.
Acquaintance of the puppy with the outside world
L. V. Krushinsky wrote: “At the initiative of I. P. Pavlov, experiments were carried out to study the influence of isolated conditions of upbringing on the formation of the defensive behavior of dogs. S. N. Vyrzhikovsky and F. M. Mayorov (1933) raised two groups of puppies “one in complete freedom, the other in isolation. The grown dogs of both groups differed sharply in their behavior. The animals raised in isolation turned out to be cowardly.”
Thus, if you want your puppy to grow up confident, proud and courageous, a real service dog, so that he does not shy away from the thundering electric trains, dropped pots, the cannonades of the fireworks and drunkards, then you need to provide him with a full-fledged dog life. As soon as the main vaccinations are done (hurry up to 2.5 months with this), you need to start walking with the puppy. Gradually growing up, the puppy will have to get acquainted with all the diversity of the world: to visit the forest, in the field, on the river, get acquainted with the properties of water, visit a training ground and puppy brood, ride in a car, on an electric train, see various pets and much, much more . Walking is necessary for the puppy not only for the normal formation of the psyche, but also for the full physical development.
